Meets my needs plus
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Aside from an almost useless included user's manual, set up and initial installation was a relative snap. (More detailed and friendly user manual is available online.) My older 3D player functions perfectly through the receiver to my 3D TV and I am ready for 4K UHD if I should ever upgrade. The sound quality is surprisingly good, especially for the price. I would recommend this for anyone that does not need or want higher output to their speakers. Functions better than my older, now defunct due to salt air environment, expensive receiver.

Better than bargain sound.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Purchased this receiver along with 2 Sony core subs for half price on all Sony Core series. Had I known how great this receiver sounded, I would have paid full price long ago. Setup takes a little time but once it was set and I was familiar with the remote...the rest was a breeze. I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for an upgrade.

Fantastic Receiver
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this when it was on sale for $200. I recently converted my son's bedroom into a "theater room". It had everything I wanted/needed in a receiver. I have this received connected to 5 Theater Solutions TSS6A's I've installed into the ceiling. I also have a Polk PSW505 12" powered sub connected for that extra thump on the low end. Overall, it sounds very impressive, especially for the price I paid at the time.

Does a great job at working with other equipment
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The best part about this audio-video receiver is the sound and the way it makes older equipment like my 1978 Reel to Reel tape deck sound so great. Assigning the inputs is so easy and labeling them is nice. The 4K looks and sounds unbelievable with movies like Star Wars: The Force Awakens in 7.1. I love this receiver by Sony.

Best Home Theater reciever I've ever had!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I waited until the March audio sale to get this. I originally wanted a Denon but after comparing this one against the one I wanted, The Sony was clearly better & had more options! at over 1000watts, 145watts per chnl , added a good 10" subwoofer, a pair of front lower speakers, center channel & 6 satellite speakers and this thing sounds amazing! with the pass-through I was able to clean up all the HDMI cords going to my tv down to just one. once set up, it does everything for you! turn on the tv and it switches to tv, turn on my ipod, poof! it switches to that, same with my laptop. It doesn't have a whole bunch of buttons because it doesn't need them. the speakers can be attached by plain wire or banana-plugs.. Spend a little money and wiring time on the plugs, you wont regret it! I have it paired with a LG 4K Blue-Ray player and an Insignia 50" 4K TV.

Q: QuestionDoes this receiver have an A/B switch?
Asked by Bud.
- A:Answer It does, but you have to take a few steps. If you hook up all 7 speakers, the speaker button on the front of the cabinet will only toggle between SPKRA and SPKROFF. I have two speakers in my back yard and need to have them off when no one is out there. Do this. Disconnect your B speakers (the speaker jack reads BiAmp/B Front High, etc. use the calibration microphone to calibrate in the main room and it will set up the system as 5.1 or 5.2. Then connect the B speakers. Now, when you push the speaker button in the front if the cabinet, it will toggle between A, B, AB, and speaker off. Then you need to select the surround sound Mode that best suits the space. I only play music when using the B speakers, so it sounds great.

Q: QuestionI got one of these units (sony 1015w theater receiver) to finally plug into the speakers that came built into the walls when we bought the house. Do I NEED a subwoofer to use this thing? Or can I use it without the SW?
Asked by Thomas.
- A:Answer Technically there is no need for the sub. You may want to consider one down the road as it significantly improves the sound. For just music, depending on what you have in the walls, it may sound fine. However for home theatre, the sub reall makes a difference.

Q: QuestionHow is the Music sound quality? I recently bought an Onkyo TX-NR656 and compared to my previous Onkyo the music is very low-volume and flat. Not enough Low-end punch. How's the Sony?
Asked by Sound.
- A:Answer Much better volume and overall sound than the Onkyo . I too purchased Onkyo and returned it for the Sony.
