Incredibly Fast and solid in a thin form factor
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve owned many, many laptops and desktop computers, and regularly have desktop computers specially built with high end components, so I know what a performance computer should be capable of. This laptop has the Intel Core i3 7th generation processor along with a solid state drive, and these two components working together means this is an incredibly fast and solid laptop, in a form factor that’s thin enough to compete in dimensions with a MacBook. I’m still not believing how fast it is, I’m not used to having that experience in a laptop computer. I have a real estate photography business so I download/upload pictures in the field with this laptop, but normally have done image processing at the office because that requires a substantial amount of computing power when processing large format files. A while back I got curious, went ahead and downloaded Adobe Lightroom onto this machine just to see if I could overload it. But nope... this laptop even handed processing large-format commercial imagery without blinking an eye. I don’t write many reviews but I had to stop and write one for this small-form firecracker. Best laptop I’ve ever owned in any size or at any price.

Save for something better
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When looking for a computer I was looking for the best "quality" at the budget I had at that time. I wish I wasn't so impatient and saved more money for better quality. This computer looks and feels great and also boots up very fast. Unfortunately what's on the inside is not so great. Its challenging to get even my bills paid in a decent time. The computer is slow, a lot of the time when on the internet it says "cannot display this page" or it will load and just give me a white page. My internet is fine and was not out during this time. It's just difficult to get anything done. Next time I am in the market for a computer, I plan to take my time and save up the money to get a decent one. I cant return this computer as I do not have the original packaging as it was thrown out by my husband. Take your time, save a little extra money and get a good quality computer. Dont waste your time or money on this one unless you want to be miserable but, then again we could be miserable together. :)

Great budget laptop
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been waiting the whole year of 2018 to get a deal like this. A $400 laptop with GREAT specs suddenly gets discounted to $289 (before taxes) on Black Friday?! I had problems with the battery on my Lenovo IdeaPad 110 laptop and I was considering sending it to Lenovo for a battery replacement, which would've cost me $30; once I saw this deal, I just had to nab it. And I don't regret it one little bit. It's beautiful, light, has a long-lasting battery, and most of all - faaaaaaast! Startup to lockscreen takes just 1.9 seconds, even less if you disable the startup programs in the Startup tab of the Task Manager. It's got a Samsung PCI-e NVME SSD, which contributed to the fast startup, fast loading times, no lags, and no worries of failure. Two USB 3.0 ports and one USB Type-C port are good enough. No VGA port and DVD drive mean that this laptop is light, but not too light - it's encased in metal. For a $400 laptop. That's amazing. It's got a VERY bright screen, too; just a bit brighter than my $229 Samsung Chromebook 3. They keyboard is great and the touchpad is really good. This is also my first brand-new Windows laptop; I've never experienced Windows 10 being so smooth! However, no gadget is without its flaws. The first one bust its cooling fan within two weeks of owning it, so I had to go back to BestBuy to exchange it. Thankfully, I got it on Black Friday, which meant I had the Holiday Return/Exchange Policy, which expires on January 12, 2019. I found out that this laptop has passive cooling, so you'd have to avoid using the laptop in extreme cold/heat. SoCal's cold weather right now is like Alaska, so I'd advise caution operating the laptop in those conditions. And the amount of bloatware is less than I expected. However, I'd still recommend a fresh install of Windows 10 to free about 10GB of space on the SSD. I may do it sometime in the future, but I don't want to mess with it right now. I'll see with my other SSD if it's worth getting rid of HP's recovery partition and HP bloatware before I do on the laptop's SSD. 128GB is getting too small these days, but I've got a 4TB Seagate Backup Plus, so I don't need to worry. All in all, it's a GREAT laptop for $400, even though I got it for $289 ($317 after taxes). You won't regret this laptop! Thanks HP! You gained back a longtime user of your computers!

Nice lightweight laptop
||Posted . Owned for 7 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this for my wife to use for her college classes. She is very happy with it. I feel like it is a pretty solid laptop for the price. She hasn't had any problems. It feels relatively sturdy (some laptops feel like I could crack the plastic casing with little effort if I tried). It works at a reasonable speed. My wife uses it for assignments in MS Office, online courses, and for the internet in general. She doesn't use it on battery power for extended periods of time, but she can get through a few hours of class without worrying about the battery dying.

Love my New HP Laptop
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This product has proven to be really amazing over the last few weeks. I love how fast the computer runs and the storage. Price was unbeatable on Black Friday. I did have a hardware issue upon receiving the laptop. The cover was warped and I had to return it. I was able to get a new one shipped to me withing a matter of 2-3 business days. Great service from Best Buy.

You can't beat it for the money.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This little PC will get the job done. It has an i3 with a solid state drive. Where else are you going to find that for the money? I have multiple built PC towers and a gaming laptop. This thing won't touch the performance of those, but it runs what it was intended to without a hitch. Fast boot time, enough power to multitask on office and browser windows. After almost a month of use, I have experienced no slowdowns that a quick reboot didn't resolve. It has great battery life because it isn't a power hungry speed demon. Great for using the office suite, watching videos, school work, and maybe some light gaming. The only 2 potential issues I can foresee are limited hard drive space and overworking the passive cooling. If you need to install lots of large program packages (in which case you should look for more performance), 120GB may not be enough. Likewise if you have lots of photos or videos, get an external drive. Passive cooling on a PC this size usually means you can't game for hours or go on a 2 day Photoshop bender without long term reliability issues.

Q: QuestionLooking for a basic system to be used for to regularly update an excel spreadsheet. Will this computer be fast enough along with basic internet function? Not for watching any videos. Our current system is pretty slow
Asked by Jb1.
- A:Answer This PC should be fine internally for that but you need to remember the size of the keyboard. It does not have the numberpad on the right side. From my experience, you need a numberpad on the right side for excel. NEED IT. This 14" will only have the row of numbers above your letters.

Q: QuestionIs this computer good for college students? Microsoft word, excel, ect.?
Asked by Amber.
- A:Answer As a college student myself, this is great. The 14" size is great to take to class everywhere. It does everything you want except handle demanding video games or video editing. If you're in a video editing type of major, you gotta spend more but if you're just using excel or word like myself, this is great. Keep in mind this 14" size does not have the numberpad on the right hand side. Only numbers on the top row.

Q: QuestionI'm looking for a laptop to buy as a Christmas gift for a 12 year old boy foster child. Probably will use it for school work and games. I don't want high end and I don't want low end or junk. Will this computer meet his needs?
Asked by ck.
- A:Answer Depends on the game. It probably can do low req games like minecraft. Nothing like a Grand Theft Auto, Call of Duty, or higher end game. It just depends on the game really.
