Good Price for Product
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My 8 year old laptop stopped working, so I did the research, flipped a coin, crossed my fingers and selected this model. Initially I went to not one, but two Best Buy stores that listed availability on the website only to get there and find no laptops were in stock. (Heavy sigh with frown). Went back home to ponder next step and decided to order it online. Was pleasantly surprised to have it delivered on time (it left the warehouse the day before!) and well packaged. The powering on and installation of the Windows 10 operating system, printer, WIFI, and mouse went mostly smooth. I discovered that with my HP Wireless printer on, the laptop was not seeing the WIFI (not displayed). Turned off the Printer and then was able to set the connection for the WIFI. Connecting to my email account was painless (compared to 8 years ago). Getting used to Windows 10 took a couple days of experimenting, but my overall impression is that it is a good system with many features I will likely never need or use. A trip to the local library for Windows 10 reference materials helped a great deal. Adding apps was mostly easy except for adding a single purchased copy of Publisher - had to uninstall the 32-bit version of a 2007 copy of Access on the laptop in order to load the 64 bit version of the 2019 copy of Publisher. But happy ending! Now, on to the laptop itself... Screen - Love it! Good clarity and size. Keyboard - easy to adjust to the slightly different layout of my previous laptop keyboard. Good feel and spacing between letters. Speakers - they work and sound good to me. I am actually impressed with how such small speakers can sound so good. Battery - of course being new, I am getting HOURS of use between charging. Previous laptop was not LI battery, so I am expecting this battery to have a longer lifetime before it needs to be replaced. I am not a heavy user by the way - email/home projects/hobbies. Size and weight - Slightly bigger than old laptop and slightly lighter that it too. Yes, it is large - but that brings with it a desktop style I can take anywhere with me in the house or travel. And with it a screen size that makes viewing photos or working on a project so much easier than looking into a smaller screen size. Operation/Startup - configured for hibernation mode, the laptop starts back up and is ready to go after I raise the lid within 15-20 seconds (time enough for me to have a sip of coffee in the morning). Fan and heat - Really surprised how little heat is generated (again, compared to old laptop) by this model. Fan is a little noticeable, but it's like white noise - unless you are listening for it, it is not objectionable/bothersome. Graphics/Speed - all the speed and graphics quality I need to watch videos/photos. I also like the CD/DVD burner as I have several programs/apps that are on disc. Loaded a few of them with no problems. Overall, I am really pleased with this model. It fits my needs and the price point was right for the specifications (processor, memory, etc.) that comes with it. Looking forward to another 8 plus years of laptop enjoyment.

Christmas gift to myself
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've not had a computer for about 5 years and never before have I had a brand new machine. This is a huge leap for me. I wanted a computer with a disc drive because I have a good number of what I've been told are "vintage" games that I wanted to either use or dispose of. So far that has been a mixed success. My old machine ran XP so the learning curve to Windows 10 is pretty steep but intriguing. (Think Brave, New World) My vision isn't great so the 17" screen is wonderful. I'm still working out positioning the screen so I don't get a stiff neck (bifocals). It is not a touch screen which is fine for me. This is also my first laptop. I'm still getting used to the flat keyboard with the pad in front of the space bar. So...this machine is as advertised, reasonably priced, with no glitches so far.

Hp laptop is on top for us
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Not often that I need to purchase a laptop for myself let alone buy one for my daughter but when needed I look to HP first and foremost. Knowing my daughter could use a laptop for herself, I did something I don’t normally do, I did research on the various makes and models out there. Memory, hard drive size, cpu, and of course cost. I’ve always been an HP guy but thought I’d just look at what was offered and the cost. Although there are some out there that fit my criteria, this Hp was on sale and of course checked off all my requirements. I know my daughter will get years of use and I won’t have to worry about reliability. The screen size is great and it’s not bulky or heavy. I’m very please with this laptop for her and wish I’d updated my own (it’s Old but still working like the day I purchased it).

Q: QuestionBestbuy, please clarify! I have seen so many different replies. Will this be on sale for $399 on-line ? And when? I was told by my store I could order it on-line for $399 this week. Then, I saw BestBuys answer that it can be bought only in-storeonly
Asked by Snickerdoodle.
- A:Answer Yes, this is the same computer that will be on sale for $399. You should be able to get it both in store and online starting Thanksgiving evening.
Answered by HP Team
Q: QuestionSo now you've increased by price by $130? I'm sick of these games! Will buy elsewhere.
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer I ,too am shocked the price increased $130 after the customer service representative at the store told me it would be $399.99 all this week. So....is it going to be on sale on Black Thursday on-line? It could have been ordered for $399 this week, I was told by my store. But now the price is back up. Disappointing!

Q: QuestionHP Support; Please provide a link to the service manual for this model. It appears the keyboard must be unsnapped from the bottom cover using a pick; and some screws removed from the back. Something else is holding the keyboard stuck to the back cover.
Asked by mmth.
- A:Answer You have to remove the rubber feet strip but be careful since it can easily break in to. There's 6 screws under the rubber pad that needs to be removed. Why the h does hp put screws under the rubber feet in the 1st place because after it's removed to add more memory or an ssd it never sticks on again. I would NEVER buy a laptop that doesn't have access panels to upgrade memory/ssd since it's a pita to remove the entire back just to perform an upgrade. It's easily damaged if you're not careful.

Q: QuestionI teach online to students in other countries. Does this laptop have a webcam and would it be a good purchase for what I do?
Asked by Teacher.
- A:Answer Hi, there! I am in the line same work and have found this laptop to be a good fit. The webcam seems a little dark on my end, but I have heard no complaints from my students. It is able to run multiple PDFs, Zoom, Skype, Chrome, and other programs simultaneously with seemingly no issue. Works great! Hope that helps!

Q: QuestionWhat is the processing speed of this computer? What are the cons and pros. I have had two HPs in the past and the start up is slow slow slow as compared to my Dells and my Lenovos. What is the reason for that?
Asked by CaroleInDFW.
- A:Answer The i5-7200U processor in this computer has a turbo speed of up to 3.10 GHz. Start up speed varies based on the components inside the computer and the software installed. An i5 processor paired with 8GB of RAM is an excellent configuration. Swapping out the Hard drive for a Solid state drive would provide a tremendous boost in initial load times.
