Kohl's Announces 8pm Thanksgiving Night Opening Time

Kohl's announced today that they will open their stores at 8pm Thanksgiving Night.  Kohl's opened at midnight last year but with JCPenney and Macy's opening at 8pm this year, it was pretty much a given that Kohl's would also open early. 

According to their press release, "Kohls will remain open for 28 straight hours until midnight Saturday.  Shopping over the Thanksgiving holiday weekend has become a much-anticipated tradition enjoyed with friends and family,” said Michelle Gass, Kohl’s chief customer officer. “As many customers are eager to get a jumpstart on their shopping, we are opening our stores at 8 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day as a convenience to our customers who want to make Kohl’s their first stop.”

Best Buy Sticking with Friday Opening Time?

As just about every other major retailer is announcing a 8pm start time Thanksgiving night, Best Buy appears to be sticking with their 12am start time.  According to their site Black Friday at Best Buy Begins November 29, 2013.  We will update you if this changes but for now it appears the Best Buy Black Friday Ad will be one of the few stores to actually start on Black Friday.  

Amazon Raises Shipping Minimum to $35

As of Oct 22, the Amazon free shipping minimum is now $35 instead of $25. According to their post regarding the shipping increase, this is the first time in more than a decade that Amazon has altered the minimum for free shipping in the US.  As always, Amazon continues to offer Amazon prime for $79 per year which includes free 2-day shipping along with movie streaming service and access to over 350,000 books in the Amazon Kindle library.

Gamestop Black Friday 2013 Ad Posted

We just posted the Gamestop Black Friday 2013 Ad.  Over 4,000 GameStop store locations will will open at midnight; The remaining stores will open at 5am on Black Friday.  The 12 page Gamestop Black Friday ad features more than 250 Black Friday deals.  Note - this ad may be updated in the coming days / weeks as it contains 2 Playstation 4 games which are not going to be available in time for Black Friday.

Amazon released their 2013 Holiday Toy List on Wednesday October 15, 2013.  In addition to offering many of the hottest toys on sale now , Amazon will also offer multiple limited-time lightning Deals running daily through mid-December.  Plus, beginning today, customers can get up to 50 percent off Crayola Toys.

Macy's Announces Thanksgiving Day Opening

On Tuesday 10/14 Macy's announced that they will be opening most stores at 8 p.m. Thanksgiving evening.  While this breaks their 155 year tradition, it more closely follows the opening times of many other major retailers.
